Leaves of absence for reasons other than qualified Family Medical Leave, Military Leave, or in accordance with any leave otherwise protected by state or local law will be approved on a case-by-case basis with approval from the team member’s management team and the Talent & Culture department.  Centerspace will consider the length of requested leave, team member’s position within the company, and staffing needs among other factors when determining approval of leaves of absence.

An absence due to medical reasons but not qualified Family Medical Leave or in accordance with any leave otherwise protected by state or local law will be considered a Leave of Absence after 7 consecutive calendar days. An absence for personal reasons not related to medical or Military leave, or in accordance with any leave otherwise protected by state or local law, will be considered a Leave of Absence after 4 weeks.

During a Leave of Absence, the team member will not accrue PTO and will not receive Holiday Pay.

System access will be suspended during Leave of Absence and will be reinstated upon return to active employment status.  System access will also be suspended when team members travel internationally; exceptions can be made if business needs require work to be completed while the team member is traveling, by submitting a request to IT with manager approval.  While system access is suspended, company e-mail may be forwarded, or access may be provided to management or other relevant team members, to ensure business continuity.  Centerspace reserves the right to make exceptions to system access on a case-by-case basis.

If a team member fails to return to work on the agreed upon return date, Centerspace will assume that the team member has voluntarily resigned.
